Pungo: Be Digital Ready

Q&A with Anique Ahmed, CEO and President of Pungo

Interviewer: Anique, Pungo has built a reputation for innovative digital solutions, particularly in healthcare. What drives your vision for the company?

Anique Ahmed: At Pungo, we believe in leveraging technology to simplify complex problems. My vision is simple: build solutions that are not just functional but transformative. In healthcare, especially, the focus has to be on making technology intuitive while ensuring that it complies with stringent standards like PHIPA and PCI. We are not just developing software; we’re building tools that empower healthcare professionals and patients alike.

Interviewer: Pungo recently outlined a comprehensive digital strategy for healthcare. What makes this approach stand out?

Anique Ahmed: Our strategy is rooted in three core principles: security, simplicity, and scalability. We’ve designed it with a forward-thinking mindset, ensuring that every aspect—from data governance to risk management—is not just compliant but also resilient. Healthcare organizations today face immense challenges in balancing innovation with privacy, and our strategy reflects that balance. We emphasize continuous monitoring, robust data encryption, and adaptive security measures because staying secure is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time fix.

Interviewer: You mentioned simplicity. How do you ensure that complex compliance requirements don’t hinder user experience?

Anique Ahmed: That’s a great point. The challenge is integrating robust security while keeping the user experience seamless. At Pungo, we design interfaces that make compliance processes intuitive. For example, we automate many backend security checks so that healthcare staff can focus on patient care without getting bogged down by technical complexities. It’s about integrating technology in a way that enhances, rather than disrupts, daily operations.

Interviewer: Pungo’s expertise spans across various industries. How does your work in healthcare differ from other projects?

Anique Ahmed: Healthcare is unique because the stakes are incredibly high—both in terms of data sensitivity and regulatory scrutiny. We take a more meticulous approach here, focusing on risk management and compliance from the ground up. Our team has extensive experience in building systems that not only meet regulatory standards but also anticipate future changes. It’s about being proactive rather than reactive.

Digital transformation consultancy. It’s a movement. A movement towards the future where businesses, both big and small, are equipped to not just survive but thrive in an increasingly digital world. At Pungo, we believe in preparing users for the next generation of online possibilities – and we’re doing it right here in Toronto.
