A leading Canadian digital health startup partnered with Pungo to transform how patients interact with clinics and pharmacies. The goal: streamline virtual appointments, medication refills, and prescription management via a secure, integrated mobile app—bridging the digital gap in primary care and pharmacy operations.

Amid growing demand for virtual health services and digital-first access to care, this startup sought to launch a mobile-first platform that could scale nationally, integrate directly with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) like TELUS Health, and remain fully compliant with PHIPA and PIPEDA standards.

The Challenge

Clinics and pharmacies across Canada, especially independent and small-to-midsize practices, struggled with outdated, manual systems for managing patient appointments and prescription workflows. The client needed a platform that could:

  • Allow patients to book virtual or in-person appointments digitally.

  • Enable prescription refill requests securely through a mobile app.

  • Accessibility Built-In: WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, supporting screen readers, keyboard navigation, and adjustable font sizes.
